Hello world!

Welcome to my blog which explores the wonderful adventure of my summer internship at Michelle Jones Creative. Michelle and I work out of her upstairs office in Charlotte, accompanied by two other little fury part-time companions, Freddie the Beagle and Cooper the Yorkie.

Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I am a student at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina, but I am originally from Lexington, Massachusetts. I am an avid lover of the Patriots, Red Sox, Bruins and all things Boston. I would rather be proposed to with a bagel rather than a ring, and I believe there is no wrong time for coffee. I like license plates that have words or phrases, and I always enjoy a good pun.

Today I was greeted how I always am: to the sound of the two furry interns barking as I walk up the driveway. Its excited barking I think, because as soon as I get in the house Cooper jumps all over me and Freddie… Well  he’s warming up to me.

My main task today is creating this website on WordPress. I’m used to hard coding websites, but I have to say using WordPress is a LOT easier. Though it has been good experience having to go through and type (and in some cases write) code out by hand because then it is easier to read over it and know what to change.

I also spent part of my day trying to create a logo for the top of my blog. I’ve been using a glitter notebook ( it’s fabulous, thank you Michelle!) to draw out logos and different sketches. Then I got to use the wacom-pad to draw out my signature to make the logo. It’s great to get a unique look rather than downloading a font. I highly suggest using one to save a picture of your signature in Illustrator. In high school web design class we had an assignment where we had to create 50 versions of a logo. At the time that seemed like a lot, but now I could fill an entire notebook with just drafts of my initials.
