So I Went a Little MIA…

So this is my first post in quite a while… Safe to say I was a little AWOL. But for these last 2 weeks of work with Michelle I’m going to try to stay on top of my blog posts and talk about the end of my summer internship!

As the summer comes to a close (no I am not sad about it, and no, that wasn’t sarcasm), Michelle and I are finishing up the projects that we’ve been working together all summer on. One of the projects that we’re almost done with is for the nail salon Polished. I started by designing what I would like the website to look like on photoshop and then I sent her the file, and she started to build the website on WordPress. Now were almost done with it, and we just have to add in pictures that they’ve sent us and make sure we’ve included all the pages they want.

Another site we’ve been working on is for (what I think is) a software company called 3PL. We met with them last Thursday to go over what else we needed for them to finish up the project. The entire backbone of the website was in place, but we still needed images and text to fill in and customize the website.

My personal favorite website that we’ve been working on si for a dog photography company. I got to create the layout on Squarespace, but now Michelle is working on filling in all the photography pictures.

This summer I’ve also written three different fashion articles for ScoopCharlotte. I liked this because I thought it was a good use of my journalism skills that I got from my Mass Comm classes, and practice for Her Campus. I don’t add much text, since they’re fashion articles its mostly pictures of clothes, but I like all the practice I can get.

My absolute favorite part about my internship was figuring out what part of my major is my favorite: Designing. My degree encompasses so many different angles, but I love the graphic design part the most. I love getting to make logos, color matching, choosing fonts, etc. I do like coding as well, I find it very satisfying, and I’m good at marketing for companies, marketing plans and such, but making posters and Facebook graphics I enjoy the most. But I love getting to spend my time on a variety of projects.

Michelle also told me that I should apply to graduate school, which I always wanted to do because I want a doctorate. But now I have an actual reason to go back to school other than I just want to be the best.
